Such a joy to hang out with Prof John Maynard this week to get a fascinating insight into the work of Joseph Lycett. John, a proud Worimi man wrote True Light and Shade: An Aboriginal Perspective of Joseph Lycett’s Art and i can’t recommend it enough. I purchase my copy for $15 new. It’s full of Lycett’s Newcastle watercolours and show so many local landmarks with Aboriginal people living a traditional life in a time before cameras. Everyday this story grows.
